Let There Be Light
Genesis 1:3

The first divine command in the Bible is “Then God said let there be light” (Genesis 1:3). Light is the presence of illumination. The presence of light reveals purpose, emphasises quality and obtains divine approval in any matter. It was after the revelation of light that God took another look at his creation and declared that it was good (Genesis 1:4).
In any endeavour of life, there may be times when situations and circumstances appear chaotic. There are times during which you seem disillusioned and unfulfilled. You may experience or feel that things are not working. You should not be worried as such instances are part of the Christian life. The fact is that such situations have happened before and are bound to present itself again in future. For example The Bible reveals that God created the heavens and the earth (genesis 1:1). However “The earth was without form and void and darkness was on the face of the deep…” (Verse 2).The Holy Spirit, a member of the executive arm of the Trinity was present but could not do much as a result of the absence of light. In fact Genesis 1:2 could be interpreted as the earth was unformed and unfilled, which presupposes the existence of a chaotic nature. Thus the consequences of God’s first creative act i.e. the earth was without form. This means that it lacked the order it would have when Gods command becomes complete. The presence of darkness is a further example of the lack of order and the beauty that would emerge from creation. We should learn from this account that creation reflected Gods normal process of bringing order out of chaos. He did this by stating “let there be light”. It was after this command that the Holy Spirit that was hovering over the face of the waters (verse 2) became very active as God spoke each word.

WHAT THEN IS LIGHT?

Psalm 119:130 declares that “the entrance of Your Words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple”. Remember that understanding is a well spring of life to them that have it. A discovery of God’s Word in any matter provides you with information. The entrance of it (not a mere emotional revelation) gives you knowledge which invariably provides an insight or understanding of the matter. This divine insight should give you wisdom which is the proper application of God’s Word to obtain desired result in any matter. Remember Psalm 119:105, “Your Word is a lamp to my feet (as you step out or about to take decision on any matter) and a light to my path (the journey of life or plan of action you desire to follow).
Light is attractive; it invites and transforms. It gives information, understanding and direction in life. Light lightens your mood and your load. Light therefore is heavenly information and that is what we need on regular basis. Heavenly information gives you unusual access to earthly manifestation. You cannot get any higher than the information at your disposal. Your insight into anything is limited to the quantity of light you possess. This is why individuals and organisations embark on research.
Information is power! You must be informed in order to be transformed. Thus Joshua 1:8 is saying draw information from this book of the law, operate by it and in so doing you will make your way prosperous and have good success. This is what gives light. You must be aware that the whole world is buying and selling information. That is what gives them their “light”. As you prayerfully read this teaching, make up your mind to go for it and your life, career, business etc will witness transformation.
No one is born with light. You attract and develop it. Light begets light. Information leads to more information. Idea gives birth to newer and more ideas as long as you act on them because everything has a beginning. Act on what you know, use it and see how God will give the multiplying effect by making room for more in your life. Alleluyah!

APPLICATION

To bring order into your situation and circumstances in the journey of life, God’s first divine command need to be issued to begin any process of transforming the chaos that is facing you right now .Thus let there be light is a sure means of bringing about order in your:
• life,
• finances,
• family
• future.
Therefore seek out information in any area that concerns you from the Scripture and other books with the view to discover what is written. This will transform you as your mind is renewed (Romans 12:2). This is the effective way to be the light of the world, prove that good and acceptable and perfect will of God in your life. As the light of the world, renew your mind and declare unto yourself “I am not to be hidden”, (Matthew 5:14) and believe you me, you will not be hidden in the name of Jesus.

EXAMPLE:

If you decide to accept responsibility for the present situation and circumstances in your life now and quit the blame game or habit; instead of praying for the death of the real and imagined enemies, choose to forgive the alleged wrong and supposed enemies in the circumstances; the light in Psalm 23:5 will be manifested in your life. It states “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies…” if your enemies are all dead, where will the table for your blessings be? Do you now see some of the reasons for the lack because you have been praying amiss, always blaming others and focusing on the devil. You have been spending time killing your enemies spiritually. But today as you understand this teaching, I see a change as you embrace the light to start enforcing what is written about you; Amen.

CONCLUSION

“Out of darkness and into His marvellous light”; is a specific instruction. When the light of the Gospel of Christ is brought to bear in any matter, darkness is shattered; miracles are provoked to happen in your life. That is what Jesus meant when he emphatically declared in Mat.4:16-17: “The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death, light has dawned. From that time Jesus began to preach and to teach repent (change the way you do things) for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand”. Jesus is the Light. He is the Light of your salvation and strength. He is the light of your life (Psalm 27:1). In Him is hidden all the treasures of Wisdom and Knowledge – Col. 2:3.
I see you being fulfilled at last in the Name of Jesus. I see Joy returning to you where you have been suffering. You shall no longer be confused because of the light you are about to encounter, AMEN.
